Fantastic news that architects Waugh Thistleton have been shortlisted for The 2018 RIBA Stirling Prize, for their Bushey Cemetery project, Buxton were the main contractor on this £6.1m scheme for The United Synagogue.
The site located North of London has expanded the existing Jewish Cemetery; creating new facilities and extensive landscaped areas.
We have built a new reception building, mortuary buildings, covered colonnades and two new prayer halls circling the linear park with additional parking for visitors.
The external walls to the prayer halls and Cohanim were constructed in rammed earth by a specialist Australian company. The landscape works included the construction of balancing ponds and ditches, pedestrian bridges, culvert, fencing, hand surfacing, topsoil and planting.
