New Build

Buxton delivered a 20,000 sq ft warehouse extension for The Document Warehouse in Sittingbourne, increasing storage capacity and supporting the client’s growing operational needs.
The project started with steelwork erection, forming the main structural frame of the extension. This allowed the building envelope to take shape early and enabled follow-on trades to work efficiently.
Once the structure was in place, the reinforced concrete floor was installed, covering approximately 2,000 m². A 250 mm thick slab was poured using around 500 m³ of concrete over three days and nights to achieve the required flatness and tolerance for high-density racking.
After pouring, the slab was left to stiffen before being finished using power float machines. This process closes the surface, compacts the concrete, and delivers a hard-wearing, level finish suitable for heavy warehouse use. Timing was critical to ensure the surface was worked at the right point in the curing process.
The extension was designed to match the existing warehouse, with a brickwork plinth and vertical metal cladding to maintain a consistent external appearance.
Buxton also delivered the associated external works and coordinated service connections as part of the build. The programme was managed to keep the site operating safely and efficiently throughout.
The completed extension provides additional secure storage space and improves operational efficiency for the client.
This project demonstrates Buxton’s experience delivering large-scale industrial buildings, combining structural steelwork, specialist concrete finishing, and practical site management.
