Clinical Care
New Build
Ref:

Buxton successfully delivered the new Oaks Park Medical Centre, providing a much-needed primary care facility for the local community in Penge.
The project involved the demolition of the former clinic on the site, which had closed several years earlier. Care was taken during demolition to salvage and retain existing stonework detailing and decorative motifs from the original Victorian building, allowing elements of the site’s heritage to be incorporated into the new development.
A new three-storey building was constructed, comprising a steel frame structure with composite floor slabs, SFS infill framing, and traditional brick and stone façades. This approach allowed the building to sit comfortably within its surroundings while delivering a modern clinical environment.
Internally, the centre provides fit-for-purpose healthcare facilities designed to meet the needs of a patient list in excess of 11,500. Accommodation includes a shell space for a future pharmacy, nine consulting rooms, four fully serviced treatment rooms, a meeting and health education room, and dedicated staff administration areas and offices.
The internal fit-out comprised specialist consulting and treatment spaces, support areas, and a large open-plan waiting area featuring a rooflight that brings natural daylight into the heart of the building.
The centre was designed and constructed to meet current NHS technical standards and BREEAM requirements, ensuring a high-quality, energy-efficient facility capable of supporting modern models of primary care delivery.
This project demonstrates Buxton’s experience delivering healthcare buildings, combining sensitive demolition, new-build construction, and specialist fit-out to create facilities that support high-quality patient care.
