Buxton delivered the design and construction of Unity Works, a mixed-use scheme providing 30 new residential apartments alongside ground-floor commercial space.
The development sits within an established urban neighbourhood, surrounded by a mix of residential streets, local businesses, and community facilities. The area is well connected, with good public transport links and access to nearby town centre amenities. The scheme helps reinforce the local streetscape, bringing new homes and active ground-floor use into the area.
The residential accommodation comprises ten one-bedroom, fourteen two-bedroom, and six three-bedroom apartments, creating a varied mix to support different household needs. Approximately 100m² of commercial space was delivered at ground level, contributing to local economic activity and street-level engagement.
The project achieved Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4, supported by a centralised energy centre providing heating and lighting to the development. Photovoltaic renewable technologies were also installed, helping to reduce carbon emissions and improve energy efficiency.
Unity Works continues Buxton’s long-standing relationship with Peabody, marking the fifth project delivered for this client. Close collaboration throughout design and construction ensured the scheme met both performance targets and quality expectations.
This project demonstrates Buxton’s experience delivering sustainable mixed-use developments that respond positively to their surroundings while supporting long-term community needs
