Buxton completed the Keens Yard project for the world-famous Battersea Dogs & Cats Home, delivering a purpose-built facility designed to support animal welfare, public engagement, and day-to-day operations.
The scheme included the construction of a new reception area featuring a mezzanine floor, providing access to a small office and WC facilities. A dedicated hydrotherapy suite was also delivered, incorporating a hydrotherapy entrance, plant room, dog shower areas, changing and WC facilities, storage rooms, and a main treatment space. This includes a swimming pool, dog spa, and water treadmill to support rehabilitation and wellbeing.
External facilities were enhanced with a new dog agility paddock and a show arena, creating dedicated spaces for training, events, and public demonstrations.
A new support building was constructed with a mezzanine level, providing male and female changing rooms, showers and WCs, a shop store, first aid room, accessible WC, and additional storage areas.
Works also included extensive external improvements. These comprised façade upgrades, new water play and paddock areas, a new public entrance, retaining walls, perimeter fencing, and new car parking facilities. Hard and soft landscaping was carried out across the site to improve access, safety, and overall appearance.
This project demonstrates Buxton’s ability to deliver specialist facilities within a live operational environment, supporting a nationally recognised charity through careful planning, high-quality construction, and sensitive stakeholder coordination.
