Buxton completed The Cornerstone, an office block conversion that transformed an existing commercial building into 94 residential units. The scheme comprises a mix of studio, one, two and three-bedroom short-term let apartments, creating flexible accommodation to suit a range of occupiers. The building is located in a prime position close to Woking mainline station, offering excellent transport links into London. Woking town centre is within easy reach, providing residents with access to a wide range of retail, leisure and dining facilities. Associated external works were delivered as part of the scheme, including hard and soft landscaping, below-ground drainage installations and new mains service connections to support the development. One of the key challenges was the constrained site location. The building sits on Broadway, surrounded by occupied neighbouring properties and directly adjacent to a live railway line. This required detailed logistics planning, careful sequencing of works and strict health and safety controls to manage deliveries, protect neighbouring buildings and maintain safe working practices throughout the programme. This project demonstrates Buxton’s experience in delivering complex commercial-to-residential conversions within tight urban environments, combining strong site management, technical coordination and high-quality finishes to create modern homes.
