Buxton was appointed to deliver the fast-track refurbishment of three floors of boarding accommodation at Epsom College, one of the UK’s leading independent schools. The project involved a complete internal refurbishment, with new finishes throughout and internal alterations to create an improved layout. New partitions were formed to reconfigure the accommodation, alongside the installation of new kitchens and bathrooms to modern standards. Externally, the works included targeted refurbishment to the building envelope, while internally the scheme incorporated extensive mechanical and electrical upgrades, bringing services up to current standards and improving comfort and performance for students. A key challenge was programme. Works commenced at the start of the summer break, with a strict eight-week delivery window to achieve completion ahead of the Autumn term. The project was delivered on a fast-track basis, requiring detailed planning, early procurement and close coordination across all trades to maintain momentum and avoid delay. Through strong site management and phased working, Buxton successfully handed the accommodation back on time, enabling students to move in at the start of term without disruption. This project demonstrates Buxton’s capability to deliver high-quality refurbishments to demanding timescales, balancing speed, quality and safety within an occupied education estate.
