Buxton completed the Farmstead Road affordable homes development on the historic Bellingham Estate in south London, appointed by Phoenix Community Housing. The back-garden infill scheme delivered 24 much-needed affordable homes, contributing to wider sustainable regeneration in Lewisham. The project involved demolition of the former dwellings at 56–60 Farmstead Road and construction of three new three-storey blocks comprising 16 two-bedroom and 8 three-bedroom self-contained flats. Associated works included hard and soft landscaping, bin and cycle stores, five car parking spaces and a new electricity substation. All homes were designed to meet the Passivhaus Low Energy Building Standard, ensuring improved air quality, thermal comfort and long-term energy performance in line with Phoenix’s commitment to sustainable regeneration. Buxton delivered meaningful social value as part of the project. We welcomed YouthBuild graduates onto the site to gain real-world experience, reinforcing skills development and progression into construction roles. The scheme was delivered in close collaboration with Phoenix Community Housing, Metropolitan Workshop and Potter Raper, reinforcing Buxton’s capability in high-quality, sustainable residential development.
