Overview
Work has commenced on the transformation of the historic Lady Helen Seymour House into a new supported accommodation and assessment centre for people moving away from rough sleeping.
The former maternity hospital will be refurbished to provide 42 self-contained en-suite bedrooms, together with assessment and step-down accommodation and supporting facilities. The scheme will provide a safe and supportive environment, helping residents to stabilise and progress towards independent living.
The project forms part of the London Borough of Newham’s wider approach to tackling homelessness and improving accommodation for vulnerable residents.
The works will also deliver social value through local employment and apprenticeship opportunities, alongside engagement with the local community.
