Buxton was pleased to be appointed principal contractor for the construction of the new Park Hub at Master Park in Oxted, Surrey. The project delivered a contemporary two-storey community facility designed to support wellbeing, social connection, and inclusive local services. The works began with the demolition of the existing club building, garages, and shed, followed by the construction of a modern, flexible space. The new building includes lounge and bar areas, dedicated changing rooms for the park’s sports clubs, accessible toilets and showers, a passenger lift to provide full access across both floors, and external balconies overlooking the parkland. At its heart, the Park Hub was conceived as a vibrant community hub, bringing together a wide range of activities and groups under one roof. It is home to Café on the Park alongside adaptable community rooms that host exercise and wellness classes, yoga and Pilates sessions, choir and art groups, dance and drama workshops, and social clubs. The spaces are also used for private bookings and community events, helping to create an active and welcoming environment for residents of all ages. The importance of the project to the local community was recognised through a visit from Claire Coutinho MP, Member of Parliament for East Surrey, who attended the official opening and met with trustees and community representatives. Her visit highlighted the role the Hub now plays in supporting local wellbeing and social connection. Beyond its internal spaces, the Hub provides accessible public toilets for park users and improved facilities that support both informal recreation and organised sport. This building continues a long history of development on the site. The previous pavilion, constructed in 1967, replaced the original structure dating back to 1923. The new Park Hub represents the next chapter, transforming an ageing facility into a modern, inclusive space that reflects the evolving needs of the Oxted community.
