Buxton delivered the redevelopment of 66–72 New Cavendish Street, located within the Harley Street Conservation Area, on behalf of the Howard de Walden Estate. The site sits within Marylebone’s historic medical quarter, an area long associated with healthcare, professional practice and Georgian and Victorian architecture. The project involved the retention of the original street façade, which was temporarily supported while the entire structure behind was carefully demolished. This complex operation required detailed temporary works design and close coordination with local authorities due to the building’s location on a busy central London street. A new steel frame structure was constructed on new foundations, including underpinning to existing party walls. The new build comprised composite floors, two reinforced concrete lift and stair cores, a brick rear elevation, new roof structure and full internal partitioning. The completed development provides 18 high-specification residential apartments, arranged over six floors comprising lower ground, ground and four upper storeys. The project required street closures and traffic management to facilitate deliveries, crane operations and façade retention works. All activities were carefully planned to minimise disruption to neighbouring properties and the wider public. This scheme represented Buxton’s second project for the Howard de Walden Estate, reinforcing a strong client relationship within the central London residential market.
