New Build
Ref:

Buxton was appointed to deliver a new two-storey multi-use building and associated works at Oaks Park High School, part of the Cheam Academies Network. The development provides enhanced educational facilities designed to support teaching, learning and student wellbeing.
The project includes a two-storey main building and a modular single-storey workshop, along with external works to improve site circulation and landscape. As a BREEAM-rated scheme, sustainability and environmental performance were key drivers in design and delivery, with materials and systems selected to meet high standards of energy efficiency and long-term durability.
The school itself is a large co-educational secondary and sixth-form academy within the London Borough of Sutton, serving a diverse local community and providing a broad curriculum and extensive extracurricular programmes.
Working on an active school site, Buxton placed a strong emphasis on social value and community engagement. During construction, the team hosted visits for school leaders to review progress and explain key elements of the build, showcasing workmanship and sustainable practices firsthand.
In addition, a series of outreach activities was delivered to inspire the next generation of builders and engineers. These included site tours for pupils and local students, safety talks, and demonstrations of modern construction techniques, all designed to support careers education and build confidence in construction pathways.
Through these activities, Buxton not only delivered a high-quality facility but also contributed to the school’s wider educational mission by helping pupils engage with real-world building projects and sustainable design.
This project demonstrates Buxton’s ability to deliver complex educational facilities on live sites, integrating sustainable building standards with meaningful social value and community engagement.
