Buxton delivered a negotiated design and build contract for Hyde Housing Association to construct 80 new homes at Sylvan Grove. The development comprises 52 private sale units, 14 shared ownership homes and 14 rental properties, providing a balanced mix of tenures to meet local housing needs. The site sits within an area undergoing regeneration, close to major transport links and future infrastructure investment. The scheme was designed to respond to this changing urban context, with building heights ranging from two to eight storeys across the development, creating a varied and well-considered streetscape. The project was delivered with a strong focus on social value. Planning obligations required the use of local labour and suppliers wherever possible, alongside the provision of training and apprenticeship opportunities for local people. Buxton worked closely with partners to support skills development and employment within the community throughout the programme. This project demonstrates Buxton’s experience delivering mixed-tenure residential schemes through a design and build approach, combining quality construction, regeneration-led placemaking and meaningful local engagement. The contract has planning obligations to encourage the use of local labour, and suppliers and to provide local training and apprenticeship opportunities.
