The Grove, Carshalton, involved the refurbishment and conversion of an existing building to provide 10 new homes for Sutton Living. Set within landscaped parkland, the project required a considered approach to access, logistics and site operations. The works included internal refurbishment and reconfiguration to create new residential accommodation, alongside associated building fabric and services upgrades. Careful sequencing and coordination of trades enabled the works to be delivered safely and efficiently within the constraints of the site and its surroundings. Social value formed an important part of the project. Buxton hosted visits from students from Sutton District Training Centre, providing practical insight into construction activity, site safety and the range of roles involved in a refurbishment and conversion project. The visits supported learning and helped promote careers in construction to local students. The project demonstrates Buxton’s experience in delivering residential refurbishment and conversion projects in sensitive settings, combining disciplined site management with meaningful engagement to support local skills and future talent.
