Trinity School of John Whitgift is a leading independent day school in Croydon, part of the historic Whitgift Foundation, a charitable trust established in 1596 to provide education for young people and care for the community. The Foundation supports bursaries and scholarships that widen access to education at Trinity and its partner schools, reflecting a long-standing commitment to both excellence and opportunity in learning.
Buxton delivered the Trinity Sports Pavilion for the school, involving the demolition of the original pavilion and construction of a new, modern facility within the playing fields.
The new pavilion provides four changing rooms, a main hall, kitchen facilities, and an elevated viewing balcony overlooking the pitches. The building is finished in brick to complement the surrounding campus. The scope also included all external works and the provision of new incoming services to support the upgraded facilities.
The completed facility was shortlisted by England Rugby as a potential training base for the Rugby World Cup. During the tournament build-up, the French national team trained at the site, reflecting the quality and standard of the facilities delivered.
This project highlights Buxton’s extensive experience delivering sports and education facilities. It also builds on our wider work at Trinity School, including the delivery of their specialist music centre, reinforcing our strong track record within the education sector.
The Trinity Sports Pavilion demonstrates Buxton’s ability to deliver high-quality sports infrastructure, combining technical expertise, careful planning, and a consistent focus on build quality and safety.
