New Build

Buxton was appointed to deliver a new presbytery for the Vincentian Fathers, providing modern accommodation to support their pastoral work and community life. A presbytery is the residence of parish priests, typically located close to a church, and provides both private living space and areas for parish engagement. The scheme involved the demolition of existing buildings and construction of a new purpose-built presbytery, designed to meet modern standards while respecting the surrounding context. Early works included piling and groundworks, carefully managed within a constrained urban site. The new building provides high-quality residential accommodation alongside communal living spaces, offices and meeting rooms. A key architectural feature is the oratory, formed with a glulam ceiling, creating a calm, light-filled space for prayer and reflection. Internally, the works included new kitchens and bathrooms, high-quality finishes throughout, and fully integrated mechanical and electrical services to improve comfort, energy efficiency and long-term performance. Sustainability was central to delivery. Regular toolbox talks were held on site, including a standout session led by the site manager focusing on waste segregation and responsible site practices. This reinforced consistent environmental behaviour across the workforce and supported Buxton’s wider commitment to reducing waste and working more sustainably. The completed presbytery now provides fit-for-purpose accommodation for the Vincentian Fathers, supporting their mission and long-term presence within the parish. This scheme demonstrates Buxton’s experience delivering sensitive residential projects for faith and community organisations, combining strong site management, sustainable working practices and high-quality construction.
