Update 28.9.18

A fantastic effort by 4 Buxton hero's ! The Company are proud to double the funds raised to reflect your achievements, and to help such a worthy cause - Keith Pagan MD

Team Buxton all successfully completed the Prudential Ride London 100

The weather certainly could have been kinder with the heavy rain & strong winds making riding conditions treacherous at times – but we all dug in and battled through to the finishing line.

The day was’nt without a couple of mechanicals with Don’s gear cable to his rear derailleur breaking on his ride to the start leaving him with no gears. Fortunately, at the 21 miler mark, Don was able to get his cable replaced by the mechanics at the Richmond Park pit stop enabling him to take on the Surrey Hills further down the route. This caused a 45min delay – but absolutely necessary for him to be able to take on the climbs at the likes of Leith Hill & Box Hill

Colin likewise noticed at the start his front tyre was split with his inner tube bulging out – fortunately, one of the bike mechanics on hand had a replacement tyre with Colin was able to set off ok at his start time.

Colin achieved an impressive time of 5:55

After Don’s 45min delay sorting his gear cable out, he did well to finish at a time of 7:02

As for Chris & myself, after some uncertainty on Don’s whereabouts, we ended up tagging each other most of the way round with finishing times of 6:54 & 6:51 respectfully

Unfortunate about the weather but all in all a great day – which was extremely well organised by the Prudential Ride London Team

Sponsors are now up to £3990 so with Buxton’s doubling the total donations this will provide a decent sum for QEF and a very worthy cause, making all the practice hours and effort worthwhile.

Would certainly be up for the Prudential Ride London 100 next year – if anyone else is game !!!
