As part of Buxton’s ongoing commitment to creating meaningful social value in the communities where we work, Jamie Clancy-Toomey, our Social Value Manager, recently took part in an inspiring school engagement event at Woodcote High School.

Organised by Croydon Commitment, the event brought together a group of dedicated employer volunteers to deliver an Interview Skills Workshop aimed at preparing students for the world of work. The session provided students with practical advice, mock interview experience, and real-world insights into employer expectations.

Jamie joined other professionals in guiding students through the interview process, offering constructive feedback and encouragement. The workshop was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from both students and staff. One student shared:

“The workshop was motivational and gave me a realistic view of what I’ll be doing in the future.”

This kind of feedback reinforces the importance of employer engagement in education and the positive impact it can have on young people’s confidence and career readiness.

At Buxton, we believe in building stronger communities through collaboration, education, and opportunity. Supporting initiatives like this is just one of the many ways we aim to leave a lasting legacy in the areas where we operate.
