A Nepalese Adventure

Buxton Bear and Aga have made it!!

After a grueling week-long hike, Buxton Bear and Aga finally reached Everest Base Camp at 5364m. The weather is absolutely gorgeous, and the views are to die for.

Day 7 - Buxton Bear & Aga arrived at Lobuche at 5030m. Today is much better hiking day, they passed at least 200 yaks carrying tents and other gear from the Everest Base camp.

Day 6 - Acclimatisation day in Dingboche. Aga & Buxton Bear hiked to almost 4800m and back down. The altitude is catching up with us, everyone was feeling a bit poorly

Day 5 - We made it to Dingboche at 4410m, the skies were clear in the morning but then the mountains disappeared for the rest of the day.

Day 4 - Buxton Bear & Aga made it to Tengboche at 3800m!

They trekked 12 km and gained approximately 800 meters in elevation. Tengboche is known for its monastery, home to the current Lama, where they both received a blessing from a monk.

Day 3 - Is an aclimatisation day. We went for a hike to a view point at 3880m. Buxton Bear has been quite popular with local kids

Travel Update 23.5.24

Buxton Bear and Aga entered Sagarmatha National Park, Sagarmatha is Everest in Nepaleese, they then crossed the Famous Hilary bridge and then made it to Namche Bazaar at 3400m

Travel Update 22.5.24

We made it to our first teahouse in Phakding, about 8km. 2610m. 3.5 hrs of walking, relatively easy. Mostly down, so we didn't gain any elevation today. Crossed 2 bridges and hundreds of mules. Weather is really nice, no rain. But the clouds are low so they cover any mountain views. We need to get above the clouds for any decent views. Tomorrow is a difficult day. But more about it... tomorrow

HOLD TIGHT!!

Travel Update 22.5.24 - Buxton and Aga land at the Tenzing-Hillary Airport, on their way to Mount Everest.

"Due to the terrain and the low possibility of a safe go-around for a missed approach, there are no go-around procedures for this airport. Tenzing–Hillary Airport is frequently referred to as the most dangerous airport in the world" Wikipedia

Travel Update 21.5.24 - Buxton Bear arrives at Kathmandu Airport and is presented with traditional MALA

Our very own Buxton Bear and Senior Design and Build Manager, Aga Storer (Ostrowska) are about to embark on an incredible journey to Everest Base Camp! 🏔️

What started as a distant dream is now just a few days away. Training has been replaced with last-minute panic purchases (thank you, Amazon) and frantic packing to fit two weeks' worth of essentials into a 15kg weight limit.

Why We're Trekking:

We've all been touched by cancer in some way. To honor those affected and support ongoing efforts to improve their quality of life, we are raising funds for Penny Brohn UK. This amazing charity provides holistic support to individuals living with cancer, helping them manage the physical, emotional, and social challenges through their renowned Bristol Whole Life Approach.

How You Can Help:

Although Aga's preparation time is over, there is still time for you to help us reach our fundraising target! Your support can make a significant difference. With your donations, Penny Brohn UK can continue to offer life-changing support to those who need it the most.

And joining Aga on this adventure is our company mascot, Buxton Bear, who has his passport and mountain gear ready to go! 🐻🏔️

For those who have already donated, a massive thank you! 😊 Your support and encouragement mean the world to us.

Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
