Buxton joins The 5% Club

Buxton Building Contractors, a well-established London and South East builder based in Caterham, has showcased its commitment to developing its people by joining The 5% Club, an industry led initiative focussed on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.


The 5% Club, initiated by Leo Quinn Group Group CEO of Balfour Beatty in 2013, is a movement of more than 500 employers providing ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to develop the skills and talents people need to become more employable and create meaningful careers. Companies joining The 5% Club commit to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes to 5% of their total workforce within five years. Members are also asked to publicly report their progress in their Annual Report. Existing members range from SMEs to FTSEs and cover a number of diverse industries, from engineering through to the legal sector.


Buxton has a long and successful record of helping young people to gain the relevant experiences that they will require to help further their chosen career in the construction industry. ​Our apprenticeships assist them to earn whilst they learn, providing a positive incentive to work hard and achieve their necessary qualifications and goals. We are confident that, ultimately, we are providing them with all the necessary skills that they need to succeed.


David Norman, Managing Director for Buxton Building Contractors, said “At Buxton, we wholeheartedly support the training of young people in the work place and actively encourage the recruitment and training of school leavers and college students. We currently have a number of apprentices, realising their full potential at various stages within our training programme.”

Buxton offers a 5 year apprenticeship agreement in a chosen path within construction management of either Quantity Surveying or Site Management. College and university fees are paid, alleviating any potential student debt with on the job training and support throughout
