Learning Beyond the Classroom

With the summer holidays just around the corner, families will soon be looking for places to visit and activities to keep children engaged.

A trip to the Imperial War Museum gives young people the opportunity to see historic aircraft, military vehicles and artefacts up close, bringing history to life in a way that books and screens cannot.

Buxton was proud to deliver the Phase 2 base build works for the museum's Second World War Galleries. The 97-week programme included major structural alterations, dedicated learning spaces, refurbished visitor facilities and upgrades to building services, all within the Grade II listed building while it remained open to the public.

Looking back, it's rewarding to have contributed to a project that continues to help visitors of all ages learn about an important period in history.
