#NAW2024 - Day 4 - George Riddles

NATIONAL APPRENTICE WEEK

Over 4 years ago, I began my apprenticeship experience with Buxton and have not looked back since. During this time, I have worked on a vast majority of projects, ranging in size, scope, and value, alongside some of the most knowledgeable professionals in the industry.

As well as this, being exposed to the day-to-day running of construction sites, understanding and carrying out the roles and responsibilities of a Site Manager, and communicating with various stakeholders such as subcontractors, designers, clients, and the general public, reinforced with the knowledge I have gained from my learning experiences at East Surrey College and Greenwich University, has been invaluable to my development. It has allowed me to become a confident, enthusiastic, and friendly team member with aspirations to work my way to the very top and become a leading figure within the industry.

Having nearly completed my apprenticeship journey, my focus will now be on completing my University degree, closely followed by obtaining my CIOB membership with the aim of further increasing my roles and responsibilities as a Site Manager and beyond. To summarise, my apprenticeship journey has been life-changing, and I would recommend this career path to anyone interested in pursuing a career in construction.
