Northgate Square, Crawley

Buxton's Partnership Housing team has delivered a truly amazing affordable scheme for the residents of Crawley, West Sussex.

Northgate Square (Bridgefield House) is a new build development on an existing car park, adjacent to Central Sussex College.

The piled, reinforced RC frame building is set over eight floors and two cores. The building consists of 33 1-bed apartments, 60 2-bed apartments and five 3-bed apartments - totalling 98 residential units.

In addition, hard and soft landscaping, car park and bicycle storage were created.

The site is located only a short distance away from the town centre and forms part of the Council's agreement to provide affordable housing.

During the build Buxton sponsored a hoarding competition promoting STEM within the College curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). The prize money was used to provide resources for the winning departments as well as a voucher for the learners within that team.

At Buxton, we wholeheartedly support the training of young people in the work place and actively encourage the recruitment and training of school leavers and college students, ultimately providing them with the necessary skills and qualifications that they need to succeed. As a result, George Scrase was placed as a trainee site supervisor on the project. George is currently attending a part time Level 3 course at East Surrey College on the built environment and plans to move onto a HNC course. read George's blog post here.
