The Wellbeing Square officially opens
We’re incredibly proud to see The Wellbeing Square officially open its doors, marking the completion of a major regeneration scheme in the heart of Newhaven.
Buxton Building has been proud to work with Lewes District Council and the wider team to transform a collection of underused town-centre buildings into a modern hub for health, wellbeing and community services.
The completed development brings together two GP practices, Quayside Medical Practice and Chapel Street Surgery, alongside a new pharmacy, leisure and wellbeing facilities operated by Wave Active, as well as creative and co-working space.
The works included the refurbishment and alteration of existing buildings, new structural elements, extensive internal fit-out and creating connections between the different parts of the development. Working within a busy town-centre environment also required careful planning and close coordination with the Council, consultants, healthcare providers, leisure operators, specialist contractors and our own site team throughout.
It’s particularly rewarding to now see the finished facility open and being used for the purpose it was designed for. The Wellbeing Square will provide a range of important services and facilities for local people, while also bringing new life to an important part of Newhaven town centre. We’re pleased to have played our part in making that happen.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed along the way. It has been a real team effort, and we’re very pleased with the result.
Congratulations to Lewes District Council and everyone involved in bringing Wellbeing Square to life.
