Oaks Park Medical Centre

Buxton has successfully delivered a new medical centre, a much needed primary care facility within Penge which is called the Oaks Park Medical Centre.

The works included the demolition of the former clinic on the site that closed in 2010.

The new building accommodates fit for purpose primary care facilities for the local community, serving a patient list in excess of 11,500. The internal of the building includes a shell for a pharmacy, nine consulting rooms, four treatment rooms with utilities, a meeting / health education room and the addition of staff admin facilities and offices.

The Centre built to the latest BREEAM & NHS technical standards offer high quality facilities which deliver the range and quality of care that is required of a 21st Century NHS.

The works started by demolishing an existing Victorian building whilst salvaging the existing stonework detailing and motifs.

A new 3 storey steel frame, composite slabs, SFS infill frame and traditional brick and stone work building was constructed.

The internal fit-out comprised of specialist treatment and consulting rooms, admin areas and a large open plan waiting area with feature roof light.

Catherine Webster, Senior Construction Manager at NHS Property Services, said: “We are very pleased to see the completion of the new facility, which means patients are one step closer to receiving healthcare in this new, modern health centre.”
