Today marked the first timber waste collection at our Oaks Park High School Site by local social enterprise Solo Wood as part of our new partnership with Community Wood Recycling – a national social enterprise transforming how the construction industry handles surplus wood.

Instead of sending offcuts and pallets to landfill, they’ll now be collected and reused—reducing waste, lowering carbon emissions, and supporting local communities.

This isn’t just about better waste management. It’s about social value. Community Wood Recycling creates meaningful jobs and training for people facing barriers to work—such as those with disabilities, mental health challenges, or a history of homelessness or offending.

By working together, we’re proud to:

✅ Divert timber from landfill

✅ Support disadvantaged individuals into employment

✅ Promote a circular economy within construction

✅ Reduce our environmental footprint

This partnership is another step in Buxton’s commitment to building sustainably—both for the planet and for the people in it.
