Know Your Numbers!
As part of Know Your Numbers! Week, the UK's annual blood pressure awareness campaign, Buxton encouraged colleagues to take a few minutes to check their blood pressure and learn more about their health. The campaign raises awareness of high blood pressure, a condition that often has no symptoms and can go unnoticed for years.
On one of our projects, Simon Park, Project Manager, organised voluntary blood pressure checks for site operatives, helping to start conversations about health, wellbeing and the importance of looking after ourselves.
Of course, a blood pressure reading is only a snapshot at a particular moment in time and should not be treated as a diagnosis. Anyone with concerns about their blood pressure or overall health should speak to their GP or another qualified healthcare professional.

The initiative forms part of Buxton's wider approach to wellbeing. Employees have access to the YuLife app, which encourages healthy habits through activities such as walking, cycling and mindfulness, while providing wellbeing support and rewards.
Throughout the year, we also support mental health awareness campaigns, wellbeing challenges and site-based initiatives that encourage colleagues to look after themselves and each other. From Mental Health Awareness Week activities to our Building Better Minds walking challenge, our aim is to create a culture where health and wellbeing remain part of everyday conversations.
A big thank you to Simon and everyone who took part.
