At Buxton, we know that construction isn’t just about building structures – it’s about building strong, healthy teams. This week, we hosted our very first Wellbeing Lunch on site, bringing together over 70 members of our site team and supply chain for a chance to pause, connect, and focus on mental health.

The lunch offered plenty of fresh fruit (with a few slices of pizza for good measure!) and more importantly, the space for honest conversation. We were proud to welcome NHS Westminster Talking Therapies, who delivered an engaging and interactive presentation on stress and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). The session was incredibly well received, sparking discussions about practical ways to manage stress both on and off site.

Why does this matter? Because wellbeing in construction is a serious issue. Our industry faces some of the highest suicide rates of any sector in the UK, and people working in construction often feel pressure not to speak openly about their mental health. That’s why initiatives like this are so important – creating moments where we can step away from the tools, check in with ourselves and each other, and remind our teams that support is out there.

This was the first wellbeing lunch of its kind on a Buxton site – but it certainly won’t be the last. We’re committed to making health and wellbeing a central part of life on site, and we’ll be rolling out more events like this across our projects. Thank you to the team at NHS Westminster taking therapies for giving there time to deliver this important session and well done to the team at Grosvenor Gardens for setting up this amazing event!

Because at Buxton, we believe a safe site is not just about helmets and hi-vis, it’s about healthy minds too.
