Stanmer Park - New Contract Award

Buxton are delighted to have been appointed the Main Contractor to restore the historic landscape and grade II listed buildings at Stanmer Park in Brighton.


The construction work will commence June 2019 and will include the following;

  • Construction of a new building at the Southern Boundary including a refreshment kiosk, toilets, orientation point and a bike hire station.

  • Extending and improving one of the existing car parks to the Southern Boundary.Resurfacing, relaying and repairing the main road from the south car parks up to the main Stammer House, restoring the character and features of the existing landscape.

  • Installation of a new pedestrian/cycle path to the west of the main drive

  • Construction of a new car park in the Patchway providing additional capacity in order to support the Walled Garden Business.

  • Restoration and cleaning of the Grade II listed Frankland Monument.

  • Creating a working and productive food and plant growing area and hub for training within the existing walled garden including restoration of the historic walls, gates and features, refurbishment and re-purposing of the existing perimeter building and a new café extension.


The £5.1m scheme has been part funded by the Heritage Lottery and Big Lottery Fund and will be match funded by Brighton & Hove City Council, Plumpton College and the South Downs National Park Authority.
