Buxton attended CHSG’s December monthly meeting and awards presentation, which brought together construction professionals to focus on the health and fire safety priorities shaping the year ahead. The event combined regulatory insight, shared learning, and recognition of organisations investing in competence and training across the industry.

Presentations included an update from the Health and Safety Executive, outlining key occupational health risks that will continue to be a focus into 2026. These included noise, asbestos, manual handling, dust, and health surveillance, with particular reference to the duties of the Client, Principal Designer, and Principal Contractor under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
The awards presentation recognised organisations demonstrating a sustained commitment to health and safety. Buxton was pleased to receive CHSG’s award for commitment to fire safety training, reflecting the significant investment made during 2025 to strengthen fire safety competence across our site teams.
Over the past year, a large proportion of Buxton’s site management team has completed Fire Safety Coordination training, a role required under the Joint Code of Practice. This training supports clearer responsibility, stronger coordination, and improved assurance on live construction sites.
The recognition also reflects the work of our Health and Safety Manager, Colin Moorcroft, who successfully completed his training to become a recognised Fire Risk Assessor. This further strengthens Buxton’s in-house capability and reinforces our ongoing focus on managing fire risk effectively across our projects.
