As part of Buxton’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and social value, we’re proud to announce our new partnership with Community Wood Recycling, a circular economy social enterprise dedicated to reducing waste and transforming lives.

This initiative was first piloted at our Oaks Park project, where we explored more sustainable solutions for managing timber waste on site. The pilot was a success, and we’ve now expanded the partnership to our latest project at Winkworth Arboretum, delivered in collaboration with the Wildlife Trust.

Our first two collections of timber waste at Winkworth have been carried out by Useful Wood Recycling, one of the many local enterprises that make up the Community Wood Recycling network. These collections not only help divert valuable resources from landfill but also support training and employment opportunities for people facing barriers to work.

As Useful Wood Recycling puts it, this is about “transforming lives”—and we couldn’t agree more. By embedding circular economy principles into our construction practices, we’re not just reducing waste; we’re contributing to a more inclusive and sustainable future.
