Hoarding Competition

Crawley College were delighted to have a special visit by the Mayor of Crawley Carlos Castro on May 17th to award a prize for the winning design of the Buxton Building Crawley College Hoarding Competition.


The Mayor gave a short speech and viewed the students work and decided to select the ‘ All around the World’ panel although there was great competition from other students hard work and creative hoarding designs.

Buxton Bear the company mascot along with other Buxton Directors and Senior team also attended the event together with many of the Staff and students from the college and the client Belltone and a representative from Qubed.


Buxton sponsored the competition to design and develop the fencing between the 2 sites, promoting STEM within the college curriculum. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) Buxton Sponsorship money will also be used as a prize for resources for the winning area as well as Buxton providing a voucher for the learners within that team.


Designs submitted to the competition included Foundation Learning (SEND), Motor Vehicle, Wood Trades and Wet Trades


Buxton Building Contractors are proud to be working in Crawley on a residential site providing new homes for Crawley adjacent to the college site and supporting the learning of construction trades and services provisions within the college


The residential scheme which abuts the college site is called Northgate Square and is a new build development on an existing car park at Central Sussex College and will create 98 units and is due to complete in 2020


In addition Buxton will be carrying out hard and soft landscaping, creation of a car park and bicycle storage, as well as, a roof terrace on the sixth floor for use by private

tenants.


The town centre is located only a short distance away from the site and forms part of the council's agreement of provision of affordable housing.


Learners following construction programmes at the college have been lucky to visit the site on several occasions during its development, working to devise visits that encourages learner’s development and skills.
