Working for Buxton

Hi, My name is George Riddles

Having completed my first year at Buxton, it has gone above and beyond what I had imagined after my first day.

During the majority of my first year I have been located in Fulham assisting in the building of 6 high end apartments. It was a great challenge for me, particularly because it was my first taste of life in construction.

Currently, I am Battersea Dogs and Cats Home converting 5 railway arches into a new reception area, arena and hydrotherapy pool along with a large amount of external works such as a fountain area and living wall space. Along with this, I am also part of the team for the next project at Battersea, a complicated two phase refurbishment of one of their main buildings.

During the first year, I also completed my Level 3 BTEC in Construction, achieving a Distinction*, something I am extremely proud of and will use as motivation to achieve the best I can going into my Level 4 qualification and Degree.

One highlight from Buxton so far is how knowledgeable and welcoming everyone has been, particularly the Project Managers I have worked with directly. The knowledge I have gained in a short space of time is too large to summarise, but every day I continue to learn and gain valuable experience which I can take with me when eventually, I am running my own site.
