£16604 for Macmillan

It was with huge pleasure that Keith Pagan, Steve Dowling and Daniel Nicholas handed over a cheque for the final sum raised in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support at the new East Surrey Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at East Surrey Hospital.

Earlier in 2015, the entire Buxton team embraced the idea proposed by Steve Dowling, Contracts Manager and Dan Nicholas, Site Manager to raise money for the centre as work commenced on site. Everybody from Buxton has joined in raising funds with coffee mornings, a 65 mile cycle ride, Sober October, Rugby World Cup Sweep Stakes, cakes sales, Macmillan collection tins on all sites and a last minute surge from happy party goers! With donations coming in during the last week the final amount raised is a staggering £16,604 !!!

The East Surrey Macmillan Cancer Support Centre client team are delighted with their finished building which has completely achieved their vision from 9 months ago. The curvature of the front elevation and the sloping roof welcomes all visitors and embraces them with ‘open arms’. Internally the building provides a warm and inviting atmosphere with treatment rooms and a video/ audio suite for use in training and information purposes. The building has its official opening on 27 January 2016 and has an open day for the public on 28 January 2016.

Buxton is thrilled to have been a part of this journey and we not only extremely proud of the successful delivery of this project, but also our contribution towards this invaluable asset to the support of cancer patients and their families within the Surrey community.
